Does noone understand that James is like, the best trainer? He may not be the strongest, but he ASKS his pokemon if they want to join, seriously he’s nicer than Ash to his pokemon.

The poor man gets bitten, poisoned, chewed on, strangled, stabbed, prodded, crushed, blown up, and all manner of painful things by his pokemon, AND HE LOVES THEM ANYWAYS.

James needs his own show. Of when he was a kid or something. And his amazing gift with pokemon.

And what did he get for his kindness? Poverty, hardship, abuse, unrealistic expectations, a miserable family that cares nothing for his happiness and is selfish and greedy in every way, best friends who treat him like dirt a majority of the time despite the fact that he is the most honest hardworking and well-meaning person they have ever known.

And he’s OKAY WITH THAT.

He’s satisfied, he’s happy, he doesn’t need money or a mansion, he doesn’t mind the things Jesse and Meowth say, he doesn’t even mind going hungry or being electrocuted with enough force to kill him or being blown sky high by an exploding robot or a kid who has absolutely no regard for him because he is a criminal. Yes, James is a criminal. Because he would never abandon his friends. He got mixed up with Team Rocket, and he might regret that now, but he also met the two most important people in the world that way and has experienced things he never would have, met pokemon he never would have, and had freedom he never would have if not for the criminal organization he works for.

He does what he thinks he has to to get by, and to support Jesse, and care for Meowth, and he forms bonds that are impossible to break. He is able to say goodbye to the pokemon he has loved for so long, just like Ash, but Ash gets credit for being a great kid, while James gets beat up and tossed aside as the “bad guy”. Even after REPEATEDLY saving Ash’s life and helping to save the WORLD. Even after proving to Ash that he isn’t bad, the kid STILL blows him and his friends up. But ASH is the hero.

There is so much about this character that I loved as a child, and so much more that I love when I look back as an adult. 

And despite it all, he sees the good in things. He is still full of wonder.

I truly love James. I can’t help but admire him. His friendship with Meowth is unbreakable. His love for Jesse is true. And even when they fight, they all manage to work it out. They are the best reflection of friendship in that show.

And wow, I wasn’t going to type this much, I just really love James.

I just want to hug James. Beautiful write up. <3
